Telegram’s new attachment menu and t.me page

We’re always trying to make Telegram (Telegram中文版)better for our users, and this month we did just that. We’ve added a new attachment menu, a new t.me page for each group and channel, improved support for Persian, Urdu, Kurdish and Hindi languages, and more!

New accessories menu

In the past, you could attach photos and videos to any message on Telegram. Now, you can also use other types of attachments such as voice messages and documents.

To open the new attachment menu:

Tap and hold on the attachment icon in a chat or channel

Choose from one of several options:

Added a new t.me page for each group, channel, and public group.

It’s a new way to see information about a group, channel, and public group. When opening a link to a group on mobile (http://t.me/c/…), users will be taken to the new t.me page introduction to the group and its rules (if any).

It also gives users an easier way to join the conversation by showing them when someone has posted or commented in their absence, as well as reminders of important events like elections or protests that they may want to participate in.

Telegram tab

You can now see which messages are unread with red bubbles next to chats in the tabs bar.

You can also mark a message as read by swiping it up, or if you want to be extra sure that your message is really gone and not just hidden away somewhere, tap on the information icon in the upper right corner of a chat and then swipe left on a message to mark it as read.

Add language version

Added better support for Arabic, Persian, and Latin languages when using right-to-left layouts. The sender name will now be positioned before the time in the chat history, and message contents will switch their layout based on the selected language automatically.

Chat history messages are stored in a separate database table from media attachments. This means that you can now have a conversation with someone without uploading or downloading any files or images!

Improved support for Persian, Urdu, Kurdish, and Hindi languages

Improved support for Persian, Urdu, Kurdish, and Hindi languages.

Right now you can use more than a hundred different languages to do everything from sending messages to adding friends to your supergroup. We’re happy to announce that we are adding support for four additional languages: Persian (Farsi), Urdu (الهندی), Kurdish (کوردی), and Hindi! This means that Telegram users around the world will be able to use our service in their native language.

Scroll tab panel in a secret chat

We’re glad you asked! Our engineers spent some time in the lab and came up with a way to fix this issue. Now, when you click on a sticker in your sticker panel, it will be loaded from the cache instead of being re-downloaded from the disk. This will result in quicker load times and more efficient memory usage.

If you have lots of stickers, this change should make scrolling through them feel much snappier!

We made some changes that should help our users be more productive!
